Hi, I am Dcn. Jesús Guerrero-Rodríguez, soon to be Fr. Jesús (pronounced Khe-SOOS). I will be ordained priest this coming June 27 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Knoxville, TN. My home parish is Saint Thomas the Apostle in Lenoir City, TN.
I am originally from Mexico and I moved to San Antonio, TX after I graduated from college in 2003. I graduated from the Instituto Tecnólogico de León in León, Guanajuato, Mexico. My college background is in the technology field (information systems.)
Following God’s call, I entered seminary for the first time in 2005 in San Antonio, TX where part of my family resides. I have done all my seminary studies in US seminaries: Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, TX and Saint Meinrad School of Theology and Seminary in Saint Meinrad, IN.
In 2009 I went to Russia as a missionary where I had the opportunity to learn their culture and religiosity. I have been a seminarian for the Diocese of Knoxville since 2011. Since then I have had the opportunity to serve in different parishes in our diocese, such as Saint Thomas the Apostle in Lenoir City, Holy Spirit in Soddy-Daisy and Saint Mary’s in Oak Ridge, TN.
My favorite writers are Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Lev Tolstoy. Currently, I am reading Anna Karenina by Tolstoy. My favorite saints are Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius, the great missionaries and evangelizers of the East.
FWIW, I do have some allergies such as, pet’s hair (dogs and cats) and nuts. Just so you know.
I am happy and excited that I will be starting my first assignment as a priest at Saint Mary’s on July 9st. I am looking forward to get to know the people of the Tri-Cities region and the local culture. Please pray for me as I begin a new chapter in my life to the service of our Church. Be assured that my prayers will be with you, as we walk together in this faith journey
