Scouts – Troop 112

Join St Mary’s Scout Troop 112

Scout Troop 112 meets at 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Monday nights at St. Mary’s Catholic School.  In the colder months, meetings are in the gym and during the warmer months, meetings are outside.  If you are age 11 up to 18 you can be part of scouting and Troop 112.

The troop hikes and camps regularly in the East Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky and North Carolina Area.  Other activities include kayaking, caving, biking.  Scouts learn life skills like cooking, swimming and first aid, as well as fun skills like horseback riding, archery, and skiing.

Troop 112 is a ministry of St Mary’s and supports the church in various activities such as parish clean up Easter Vigil Candle Lighting and Eagle Scout facilities improvement projects.

Each summer the troop attends a week-long summer camp, where scouts can participate in many outdoor activities and experience scouting firsthand.  In the past years Troop 112 has attended Camp Davy Crockett, located on Cherokee Lake.

Many Scouts have achieved Eagle Rank, while a member of Troop 112.  Many more scouts have learned the value of scouting for their life long journey.

Many Scout Eagle projects can be seen on St Mary’s campus.  There is a fire pit down the hill in front of the church.  Many of the benches and picnic tables are Eagle projects along with picnic shelters and trails.

Troop 112 supports Scouting for Food in the fall (a food drive to help needy families during colder months) and the property clean up in the spring, along with Troop fundraising activities such as selling flowers for Mother’s Day and Wreaths for the Christmas Season.  We also assist in preparing the ceremonial fire for the Easter season.

The troop is a part of the Sequoyah Council Buffalo Mountain District.
