Father Dustin Collins, Parochial Administrator
Father Dustin Collins was born here in Johnson City and grew up in Jonesborough. His home parish was Notre Dame in Greeneville. He graduated from Davy Crockett High School in 2004 and then entered seminary. He graduated Conception Seminary College in 2008 and Saint Meinrad Seminary in 2012. He was ordained a priest by Bishop Stika on June 2, 2012. His past assignments include Saint Mary Parish in Oak Ridge (2012-2018) and Our Lady of Fatima Parish (2018-2019). He is also assigned as chaplain to the Diocesan Committee on Scouting.
Father Jesus Guerrero, Parochial Vicar
He is originally from Mexico and moved to San Antonio after graduating from college in 2003. He graduated from the Instituto Technólogico de León. He then entered seminary in 2005 at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio. He later attended Saint Meirad Seminary in Indiana. In 2009 he went to Russia as a missionary where he had the opportunity to learn their culture and religiosity. He began his time with the Diocese of Knoxville in 2011. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 27, 2015.
Deacon Mike Jacobs
Deacon John Hackett
He is a cradle Catholic who was born in Brooklyn. When he was in the 6th grade his family moved to Florida. Following High School, during the Vietnam Era, he joined the Navy and served for 5 years. Following his time in the Navy he went to college and graduate school. It was while at graduate school that he met Bridget, his wife to be. He has now been happily married to her for 45 years. His son, John, is also a parishioner here and since he has the same name, he is sometimes referred to as “John 3” and he as “John 4.” Prior to his ordination as a deacon in 2007 his professional career was in Higher Education. Within that venue he served as a College Counselor and adjunct Professor of Psychology for over 35 years.
Deacon Don Griffith
He grew up in Ohio. His mom still lives in the house he grew up in. His dad has passed and his only sibling, a younger sister, lives with his mom along with his nieces and nephews. He met his wife, Patty, while serving in the United States Navy, and now has 3 children. He entered full communion with the Holy Catholic Church at St. Mary’s at the Easter Vigil of 2006. He was ordained to the order of the diaconate in June 2016 by Bishop Stika. He is thankful to God for allowing him to serve His holy people in this parish.
Deacon George Fredericks, retired
Deacon George Fredericks was born and raised in Johnson City, TN. He is an Electrical Engineer by profession and a registered professional engineer. Deacon George worked in research & development in industry for 10 years before becoming a college professor for 31 years. Raised in the Lutheran Church, he joined the Catholic Church in December, 1977. He retired early from teaching to become a deacon and was ordained to the Diaconate June 9, 2007. Deacon George has taught in R.C.I.A. for over 35 years and led groups in Bible Studies for over 20 years. He is married to Dolores Fredericks who is a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s. Dolores is a retired music educator and is now the parish Director of Music and Liturgy.
