Weekend Masses & Weather Advisory

There will be Mass as normal this weekend. Nevertheless, in light of possible inclement weather, please be prudent in attending. The priests and a few others have a short walk, while this is not the case for everyone. Assuming we have electricity, we will stream the 10am (English), 12pm (Spanish), and 2pm (Latin) Masses to YouTube.

CCC 2181:
“The faithful are obliged to participate in the Eucharist on days of obligation, unless excused for a serious reason (for example, illness, the care of infants) or dispensed by their own pastor. Those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin.”

Safety First:
If driving conditions are hazardous or if you fear them to be, you are excused. The Church does not expect the impossible or the dangerously burdensome.

If you honestly determine that you cannot safely travel back and forth, you are automatically excused from the obligation by the law itself (the “serious reason”). You do not need to call your priest for permission at the moment.

If you are unable to attend:
If the weather prevents you from going to Mass, the Church encourages you to still “keep holy the Lord’s Day” in other ways:
• Spiritual Communion: Praying and uniting yourself to the Eucharist from home.
• Liturgy of the Word: Reading the Sunday Scriptures (Epistle and Gospel) as a family.
• Livestreams: Watching a televised or online Mass (note: this does not “fulfill” the obligation, but since you are already excused, it is a recommended way to pray).

Parish Meetings/Events:
In case of inclement weather these will be cancelled. Please keep your eyes on our social media and stay in touch with your ministry leaders.

Please stay safe and know of our prayers for you and your families.
