Meeting Notes from March 16, 2021
Attending via Zoom: Fr. Dustin Collins, Larry Schmidt (PPC Chairperson), Bobby Austin, Jim Burns, John Caso, Danute Cline, Thomas Edwards, Raymond Isaac, Eileen Quesenberry, Marie Wright, Ronnie Garland (Grand Knight), and Laura Ballantyne (PPC Secretary).

Opening Prayer
Minutes from the February Meeting: Approved
Luncheon for SMS Teacher Appreciation is 03/19 catered by Mellow Mushroom; it is not too late to contribute! Only school personnel and students are allowed in the school.
Long Term Planning Committee Update:
- Meeting with long term planning committee and stewardship office will occur soon.
Ministry Rack Update:
- Spanish translations still need to be completed. Some of the translations have been done.
- Rack has 40 slots.
Discernment Update:
- Danute has asked for Women’s Welcome Ministry to submit one name, and all PPC members are encouraged to submit names.
- Hispanic representative would be good to have if we can get somebody to come forward.
Holy Week/Easter Update:
- Palm Sunday processional will not be done with the congregation in the gathering area.
- Possibly have two concurrent masses at 10AM on Easter Sunday.
- Good Friday 6PM English, 7:30PM Spanish
- 9AM confessions and 8:30PM mass on Holy Saturday.
- Easter masses 8AM, 10AM, 12PM.
Knights of Columbus:
Fish Fries on March 19 and 26 plus April 9 and 16. Preorder or walk in and pick up, limited seating for 50 people, still priced at $10/adult. Will offer a baked potato choice with sour cream and butter.
Post-Easter Parish Activity:
- April activity? Scavenger Hunt? Enlist youth group support. April 9-10 would be available, but it is during SMS Spring Break. 23-24 is available. The PPC preferred this date (need to check youth boys’ retreat date).
- Outdoor/drive in movie? (Or should we try a drive in series in the summer?)
- Family Fun Fest in May
Diocese Reopening Meeting Discussion:
- September 8th is the anniversary of the Diocese of Knoxville, so “reopening” (or Homecoming) celebration is scheduled for Sept 11/12.
- Proposed Vigil mass Saturday night, one mass on Sunday with parish meal or picnic afterward. Tent? Knights’ involvement? Oktoberfest theme?
- Rosary prayers 13th of each month May-October for the intentions of people who died during Covid crisis. Memorial wall collage/gathering area TV? Memorial candle?
- Prayer request/survey letter?
