Parish Pastoral Council Meeting Minutes
May 18, 2021 at 6:30pm
Attending via Zoom: Fr. Dustin Collins, Larry Schmidt (PPC Chairperson), Bobby Austin, Jim Burns, John Caso, Danute Cline, Thomas Edwards, Raymond Isaac, Eileen Quesenberry, Marie Wright, Becky Frye, and Laura Ballantyne (PPC Secretary).

Opening Prayer
Minutes from the April Meeting: Approved
Discernment Update
- Eileen will be resigning end of current year (June); there will be a one year term available.
- New full term members: Scott Perry, Diane Meylee, and Euridice Aguilar.
- Emily Peoples will be the new youth member.
Director of Development for Parish and School Update
- Andrew Cooper – will function in that capacity for the parish and the school starting 06/21.
- He is bilingual.
Ministry Rack Update
- Cards have been printed, rack should be completed by June.
- Social committee needs a card.
Parish survey updates
- Several responses received; prayers, food pantry, needs for shut ins have been addressed.
Reopening masses:
- Effective 05/22/23 dispensation goes away; still exemptions for sick, vulnerable people.
- Mask mandate lifted.
Long Term Planning Committee: Parish Needs Discussion
– See at end of these notes.
– Diocesan stewardship director will have input.
– Council Support: Are the needs valid, and do we need to add more items.
– Garbage area
– Storage
– Keyless entry
– Teaching of Spanish in the school
- School atrium
- Bluetooth sound system for youth area and better lighting (evaluate downstairs area)
- Drainage in gathering area kitchen.
- #22 clarification: Maintain/update existing facilities. General preventive maintenance.
September 12 Mass & Picnic Discussion
– Get social committee involvement.
– How will mass take place?
- Tent will cost money; need pricing.
– How do we want to do the picnic?
- Potluck with parish supplying the meat.
- Petra (?)
- Have parishioners bring their own chairs and not have tables.
Octoberfest discussion
- October 2nd (road game for UT) Is the same weekend as Storytelling and Apple Festival. Council decided to scrub Octoberfest, but pet blessing will still take place.
- Other dates available?
- Fall Break begins October 11th
- Trunk or Treat?
June movie night discussion
- Would need subtitles to bring a bilingual crowd. Projector, screen, and other equipment concerns present challenges.
- Have Knights put together refreshments.
- Basement? Outdoors?
- Maybe do parish block party after Saturday vigil mass instead. Low key event, games, just give people an opportunity to visit with each other. Block off back parking lot or hold it in the soccer field.
- June 12 would be the best date for Fr. Collins’ and the Parish’s schedule.
- Scavenger hunt (?)
Hospitality table discussion
- Have the table under the TV, distribute visitor cards & newcomer packets. Person at the table would make a personal connection.
- Have ministries man the table.
- Committees/Liaisons needed.
