Fundraisers update (Raffle Tickets/Auction)

Auction – Trying to get donations.  Short on silent auction donations.  Help is appreciated.

We will have an online auction for folks that prefer not to be in person because of Covid.  It is free of charge.

It will be communicated in the communication avenues for Church and School.

Andrew will be leaving his role at the end of the term to St. Dominic’s School.

We are looking for replacements.  We have some candidates we are considering.

Raffle Tickets – We sold 686 vs. a self-imposed goal of 1000.  Sold 500 last year.

 School soffit update

Had a company from Asheville to work on the repair.  We could not move forward with this company after the Diocese reviewed the contract.

Pat is looking at other alternate companies to do the work.

 Long term planning/lower level

An inspector for the City came at our request to discuss the addition of a bathroom in the basement.  The inspector said he would not inspect the rest of the basement but only the bathrooms.

There was an idea to hire the same company that we use for the soffit.

Long term planning– Mr. Weems came back with an estimate for the long term plan development and the estimate was double the estimate from Roth.  This will be discussed in the finance committee.

 Father Callahan image

 — Need suggestions for somebody who can paint a picture based on grainy photos we have of him with his horse.

 Coffee/doughnuts

8 dozen needed to cover the 8 & 10 am masses.

There is a jar for donations, and some parishioner have even come forward offering to pay for a whole week’s refreshments.

Will eventually expand to the other masses.

Lenten retreats:

Fr. Michael Herdershott of Holy Ghost in Knoxville will present on our baptismal call, to go out and to

Topic suggestions?

Sr Peter Miram — she may be asked to come for advent.

— Spanish speaker session.

— Biblical walk through the mass

— Stewardship

Fr. Jesus has returned from Mexico, will soon be working with Fr. Collins & Dolores on a Lent schedule.

 Synod survey:

254 parishioners have taken the survey so far.

Listening sessions have gone well.

Suggestions:

“A slice of Theology” bring in a speaker on Saturdays with pizza.

— Wednesday night adult faith formation. The trick is getting people to attend.

— Have ministries invite parishioners on rotating weekends.  Hospitality table in the gathering area.

— Welcoming Sunday handing out baskets to new parishioners.

New parishioners do not feel welcome, feel like these groups are all cliques.

Complaints about divisions with Spanish speaking community. Build a bridge between the 2 communities. Bring Fr. Jesus in on Parish Council calls. Address the issue at the next Parish Open Forum.

Social activity dialogue

Monthly activities, have ministries share responsibilities; Moms, KoC, Welcome retreats, Hispanic ministries.

— School Auction (February)

— Lenten fish fries

— Family Fun Day (May)

 Statue/walking trail:

Garden in front of the school has been planted; statue in place and has been blessed.

Walking trail: Fr. Collins would like the trail to be restored so it will draw people in to walk there.  Need a more permanent surface than mulch; address erosion issues.  Oak Ridge has a nice walking trail, All saints as well.  Find a grant?
