Becoming Catholic
Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
The ministry of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process, at least one year in duration, for
- those who would like to explore the possibility of joining the Catholic Church
- any person who is not already Catholic that would like to expand his or her knowledge of the Catholic Church
- the spouse of a Catholic who is not a member of the Church but wishes to know more about it to enable them to live the spiritual life in an interfaith marriage more fully
- the Catholic who has been away from the practices of the Church for a time and desires to return to active participation
The process involves the entire parish community through presentation of faith and doctrine by members of the parish, as well as public ritual celebration at weekend liturgies throughout the year. Sessions are offered in both English and Spanish with the reception of the sacraments at the Easter Vigil.
Christian Initiation of Children of Catechetical Age
The ministry of Christian Initiation of Children of Catechetical Age is the process, based on the Christian Initiation of Adults, during which children who are not baptized and/or have not received the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist at the traditional age, engage in age appropriate catechesis and receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil.
